Full-time Corporate and Commercial Solicitor required.  Permanent role.

Between 2 – 4 years PQE. Salary dependent on experience and expertise. Exciting opportunity to build on and develop an existing, good quality workload. 

The appointment is required to expand the Corporate and Commercial Department. 

Department structure:  the candidate would manage their own caseload but would be part of a specialist team. Support and supervision available as appropriate.

Case management literate:  N/A. 

Own office and secretarial support.

Budget:  flexible commensurate with age and experience.

Hours – 9.00 am – 5.15 pm with lunch between 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm

Holiday entitlement 23 +bank / public pa

Full-time Solicitor required for Private Client department.  Permanent role.

The role will be to manage a case load of mixed private client matters such as wills, probate, estate administration, inheritance tax planning, powers of attorney and estate planning..

3 – 10 years PQE (but some flexibility)

Salary dependent on experience and expertise.

Department structure: The candidate will join, within the department at a level commensurate with their experience and seniority, a department presently consisting of two part-time Solicitors and a part-time paralegal.    Possible managerial and supervisory responsibility for other Fee Earners in the Private Client Department (depending upon own experience and seniority).

Own office and secretarial support. 

Hours – 9.00 am – 5.15 pm with lunch between 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm

Job Specification:

Main Purposes of Job:

To be an effective and efficient fee earner in the Firm’s Private Client Department (other than in relation to residential conveyancing and family) and if appropriate (by reference to own experience and seniority) prospectively to act in all respects as head of that department.

To provide effective and timely legal services to the Firm’s clients.

To participate in appropriate practice development initiatives in order to seek to achieve and maintain a full client workload

To provide profitable income from their services by meeting or exceeding own fee targets as set annually.

Scope of Job:

Responsible for own Private Client caseload and to ensure all relevant deadlines are met.

Responsible (in association with the firm’s Directors and other fee earners in the department) for practice development of the Private Client Team.

Responsible for work of secretaries and for assisting other Fee Earners (including Trainees) when they are involved with work types for which supervisory status has been designated.

Key Results:

Achievement of own and departmental financial or chargeable hours targets (or both) by reference to fee targets set annually.

Achievement by the Firm’s Private Client Department of the required quality of service level, signified by own Clients’ satisfaction with the service provided and nil complaints.

Achievement of any other individual goals or objectives set by Directors from time to time.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required

  1. Up to date and comprehensive legal knowledge of own area of practice, and related.
  2. Ability to supervise and manage junior fee earners.
  3. Client and other connections.
  4. Knowledge and experience of the firm’s facilities, equipment and systems

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. a) Duties to Clients
  2. Interview and advise clients concisely in writing, by telephone and in person.
  3. Manage a caseload of clients (in conjunction with other fee earners where necessary).
  4. Liaise with HM Revenue & Customs, Accountants and Investment Advisors.
  5. Maintain up-to-date knowledge by training and research in the following areas of law:
  6. Wills and Estate Planning
  7. Administration of Deceased Estates
  8. Trusts
  9. Legal Services for the Elderly
  10. Revenue Law related to those areas.
  11. Introduce clients to other Fee Earners in the Firm, as appropriate.
