Sophie Murgatroyd shortlisted for prestigious Rising Star of the Year Award

We are delighted to announce that Sophie Murgatroyd has been shortlisted for the Rising Star of the Year award by the Modern Law Awards 2023. The category recognises those Lawyers that demonstrate a high level of involvement within the profession and area of practice considering their time in practice and any significant obstacles they have overcome.

Sophie is an Associate Solicitor at Bowcock Cuerden LLP specialising in commercial litigation. Sophie hasn’t wasted any time in dominating the profession and now comes with an impressive case load and client following having found her “niche” in equine law. Sophie has been recognised as being a leader in her field.

Sophie’s case load involves a variety of small claims, fast track and multi-track matters ranging from local county court appearances to long trials in the High Court. Nothing phases her.

Sophie’s strength and resilience were shown as a survivor of domestic abuse being regularly hospitalised, stalked and threatened. Sophie found the strength to reach out and take a stand and broke her silence and posted about her experience on social media which received over three quarters of a million views. Following such, Sophie was asked to work alongside a charity that provides guidance to domestic abuse survivors who wish to set up their own company but perhaps don’t know how to. Sophie provides her time to the charity to ensure the companies protect the survivors’ position legally.
