Crewe Alex in the Community – Grand Opening Event

On Saturday 17th September it was the Grand Opening of the newly refurbished Soccer Centre which was attended by the Trustees of the Crewe based Community Charity and a number of specially invited guests. Amongst those attending were Ray Walker and Melvin Bates from the Soccer Centre, the Chair of the FA Debbie Hewitt and EFL Chief Executive Trevor Birch.

The day started with the unveiling of the new 4G Astroturf followed by a walk around the facilities and then on to Crewe Alex’s Mornflake stadium to watch Crewe Alex FC against Crawley Town. Crewe Alex won 1-0 which was a bonus!

One of the guests was Lesley Smith who is a Director at Bowcock Cuerden LLP, Crewe Alexandra’s official legal partner. Lesley commented:

“I am proud to be a Trustee at The Soccer Centre which has provided football activities in the Crewe, Nantwich and surrounding areas for 22 years.

This Summer the facility has been refurbished to include a state-of-the-art 4G AstroTurf surface and many improved facilities which will ensure that both spectators and participants have the best possible football experience. It was a fantastic grand opening event last Saturday and a great opportunity to showcase the new facility.”
