The Beauty of Giving
Heather Lally, Associate Solicitor and Estate and Trust Practitioner at Bowcock Cuerden LLP considers how Charitable Trusts and legacies left by Will can benefit so many lives.
With the recent death of Captain Sir Thomas Moore, people around the world have come together to acknowledge through social media, the news, the internet and radio broadcasts, a man who inspired so many to give. He gave his time, his effort, his passion. People have given donations to help the NHS. The NHS and all other key and critical workers continue to give their expertise in helping so many lives.
It is heart-warming to see the ripple effect of such caring and the contagious nature of helping others. Heather Lally in assisting clients in renewing or preparing first time Wills for clients sees first-hand the generosity of clients in leaving legacies to charity. Many clients even leave the entire residuary estate to charity, if they have no surviving relatives or friends, showing the very best of humanity in helping others.
Whether it is people donating during their lifetime, giving their ‘travel’ money to a good cause as they are now working from home, or raising funds by running marathons, cycling or buying a balloon for a balloon race for Valentine’s day for a good cause, it all helps and promotes kindness.
