Advanced decisions are also referred to as ‘Living Wills’ and ‘advanced directives’.
A Living Will only takes effect on death, whereas an advanced directive lets you indicate what type of treatment you would prefer or would refuse in certain situations if you lack capacity to make those decisions or to communicate your wishes at the time.
