- Grandparental Rights
When parents separate, this can often create difficulties for grandparents when it comes to spending time with their grandchildren. Here at Bowcock Cuerden, we understand the worry that such uncertainty can bring.
Whilst unfortunately grandparents
do not automatically have a right to contact with their grandchildren, the
Family Court do recognise the invaluable role they can have in their
grandchildren’s lives.
Should contact be restricted,
grandparents can apply to the Court for permission to file an application
seeking an Order outlining when they can see their grandchildren. As
grandparents do not have Parental Responsibility, they require the Court’s
permission before being able to file an application. If successful, an
application can be filed, which should outline what you are seeking and why you
believe it is in the children’s best interests.
If you wish to discuss your
position, give our friendly team a call on 01270 611106 or 07518 512985 to
arrange a no-obligation consultation.
